Post-Testing Transition: The Road to Production Access
Successfully completing the 14-day testing period is a significant milestone, but it is not the final step. You must now formally apply for "Production Access," a process that involves a qualitative review of your development practices and your app's stability.
The Application Process
Once the requirements are met, the Play Console enables the 'Apply for production' option on your app dashboard. This application is assessed based on the data generated during your testing phase.
Key Evaluation Criteria
- Tester Retention: Did you maintain 20 testers for the full duration?
- Engagement Depth: Was the app actually utilized, or were the installs static?
- Bug Resolution History: Was there evidence that you identified and rectified issues during the test?
Preparing the Production Questionnaire
You will be asked to provide written responses to several questions. Professionalism and detail are essential here.
- On Tester Recruiting: Explain that you utilized a structured community of developers and professional QA platforms to ensure diverse and technical feedback.
- On Feedback Collection: Detail the specific bugs that were found.
- Weak Answer: "We found no bugs."
- Strong Answer: "Testers identified a memory leak in the image filtering module on Android 11. We optimized the bitmap recycling and pushed a fix on Day 8 of testing."
- On App Readiness: Describe how the 14-day period helped you confirm the stability of your core user flow.
The Approval Timeline
The human review of your production application typically takes between 2 and 7 business days. During this period, your app status will be 'Production access review in progress'.
Possible Outcomes
- Approval: You gain full access to the Production track. You can now release your app to the public.
- Request for More Information: Google may ask for clarification on your testing methods. Respond promptly and professionally.

Advancing to Production
Upon approval, you must create a new release on the 'Production' track. You can promote your existing AAB from the closed testing track directly to production to ensure the version that was tested is the version that is launched.
